I have a bushnell custom 22 3x7 mounted on a marlin 925m 22 mag. I love the scope, both the way it looks and fits on the gun and the way it performs. It has some sentimental value also. My problem is that the glass on it is without a doubt not the best. If it's the slightest bit dark I might as well forget about seeing anything throught it. I know this is common with such a small objective however. It's also not the clearest scope. Like I said though, lots of sentimental value.

My question is, is there some place I could send it to have it refurbished or even made better then original? I would really like it if it was made to be much better then it's original condition and wouldn't mind paying for it either.

Any ideas?

Try Bushnell. They are the only ones I know of that may possibly do it.

Your main problem with that scope is exit pupil size. If I remember correctly the Bushnell custom .22 scope has a straight objective lens (front lens) and don't "bell" out larger than the tube size (roughly 20mm or 22mm). That means that if you keep it turned up to 7x the exit pupil is only about 3mm. The average human pupil in your eye will dilate to about 5mm-5.5mm in low light. That means anything below 5-5.5mm exit pupil will appear to "go dark" on you in low light. Turn the scope down to the lower end of 3x-4x and it will magically appear to "brighten up". Exit pupil of a scope at any power is easily determined by dividing the power of magnification into the objective lens size in mm-for example 4x goes into 20mm 5 times-thus 5mm exit pupil.
