Red-Dot Scope for Ruger Blackhawk 41 Mag.
I put a TruGlo 5 MOA Red/Green Red-Dot Scope on my BH 41 Mag. I used
a Weaver #301 pistol scope mount. This is a screw on mount...not drill and tap. Did not want to drill and tap due to possible reduction in pistol value. After trying to sight the scope in at the range, I determined the scope would not hold the sight in adjustment. Friends told me the TruGlo would not hold the sight in due to the heavy recoil of the 41 mag. My question? Any recommendations based on past experience of a pistol scope suitable for my 41 BH? It has a healthy kick...not like a 44 but still get your attention. Thanks much for the help. mmiller57 |
I think the problem lies more in the mount than in the red dot sight. I've put Tru Glo red dot sights on .44 magnums before and they held up just fine. It's possible you have a faulty sight though.

on a 44...I'm not giving up on my TruGlo...there are so many other variables...problem could be the scope...could be the shooter (me)...could be lack of a better grip???... I'm shooting with the factory grip which I'm replacing with a Pachmyar Presentation grip #03137...should receive it within a week or so...then back to the range...hopefully this could be the problem rather than the scope...my overall objective is to achieve a reliable shooting pattern at 100 yards for deer hunting with the 41 mag...I am a amputee, right leg below the knee...I find it much easier to carry a scoped pistol thru the woods than a 30-06 rifle...thanks again. |
