Questions about the numbers.
I'm looking at a scope and it says it's 4x32 EAO but I have no idea what that means. Can someone help me out?

you can also can scopes that aren't fixed, like 3-9x40, which means the magnification is adjustable between 3 and 9 times with a 40mm objective lense, and with a bigger objective lense it lets more light in and you have a bigger field of view

Okay cool. Thanks guys. I have another question now. Say I got a 3-9x40 scope. Would it have only the 3x and 9x magnifications or would it have 3x, 4x, 5x... all the way up to 9x?

The one that came on my pellet rifle has all the settings in between, as does the one for my SKS.

Think of a variable power scope like a camera lens. On a DSLR with a 35-55mm lens you can zoom from 35 to 55mm by turning the zoom ring on the lens you can stop it at any point between the 35 and 55 ratings. Smae appalies to a variable power scopes.
The E may stand or external that is the only thing I can come up with.
