Good lord man just take the barrel off the action. It is 4 screws and it is off.
As for bore snakes. When you take a shower do you dry off with a dirty towel? Why would you want to try and clean a gun with a dirty sock? If you want a pull through system go get a quality one like Otis's cleaning system. Boar snakes are a joke and don't do anything but smear the filth around.
Lastly why are you cleaning a rimfire barrel anyways? I have one 10/22 that had over 75k rounds thought it with the barrel being cleaned aprox 4 times.

i dont clean 22lr barrels until they start losing accuracy.
i will second focal ring shift. the rear focal ring focuses the reticle not the target

I agree, check the eye-piece end, rotating several turns each way to focus the X hairs. Probably all that's wrong.
Cleaning the breach and bolt area is important (keeps the FTF's at bay), the bore...not so much.

Thank God someone finally had the testicular fortitude to tell the truth about this abomination. The bore snake was specifically designed to make people who are too lazy to clean their gun feel good.
