Guessing by the label on the side of it, I'd say it's an Eotech.
L-3 EOTech Holographic Weapons Systems
They tend to go through batteries more quickly than tube style red dots, like the Aimpoints. The Aimpoint is also much more water resistant than the Eotech.
Some prefer the open, heads up style of the Eotech, but I'm not a huge fan of them. They're expensive for what you get.

Matt is mostly correct.
The New EoTech's aren 't as bad on batteries and the early editions. They are no LED driven light in comparison - but they don't "eat" batteries either.
I happen to love mine and they offer two distinct advantages over tube models like Aimpoint.
1) Their housing is aircraft grade aluminum and is pretty damn near indestructable.
2) Even if the lens gets dirty, gets cracked or is even caked with mud, you don't have to be able to look "through" it's lens to be able to see the holographic image. It's reticle is projected on the operator end and is not dependent on the condition of the glass itself.
They are however quite expensive, so their are other options available if you are on a budget.

is that eotech on an airsoft gun?
what a waste!
but yeah eotech's are very nice...
if you're thinking about getting one you should consider the 512 since it uses regular AA so the batteries are easier to find and cheaper

I think eotech are crap. That is just me though.
I would rather have a scope or irons. I have one red dot and it is ok sometimes.
