Default Nikon Monarch 4-16x50SF M BDC

Well I "pulled the trigger" and purchased one last night. Last week was my
B-day and I had clearance from SWMBO that I could purchase a new scope.
I have two Nikon Buckmasters and have been very happy with them. I was
shopping to upgrade my ~50 year old scope on my 1961 Winchester Model 70.

So with my $140 dollars in credit coupons (I travel for work and use my
Gander Mtn credit card as much as possible, free money is always a good
thing) and my 10% off coupon I headed up to Gander Mountain, in Joliet, IL.

My "budget" before the credits and discounts was $400 or actual spend was
~$250. I looked at many of the Leupolds, Nikons and even a few Bushnell's.
You know I always thought Bushnell was a crappy product but for their
price point (inexpensive) I was actually impressed with them.

Well the "kid" helping me was great, his name is Jake and he is a Marine,
young and did 2 tours in Afganistan. Good kid, 0311. Going to school and
working at the Gander Mtn. for a few bucks. He was very helpful.

So the finally tally;
Price in the store. $349.97
Less 10% ............. 314.97
Plus tax ..................27.56
Less cash credit ... -140.00
Final cost ........... $202.53

Might be a few weeks before I get to shoot with it. I will fill you in on my
opinions and experience with it then.

BTW, the old scope was a Weatherby Variable 2-7

Dan,

A couple of buddies of mine and I will likely be in your neighborhood in
August for a little antelope hunting. I will have my Rem 700 (7mm Rem
Mag.) and this gun, the Winchester 70, as a backup. The Rem 700 has
a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 BDC. These are my two guns set up for
reaching out and touching things at long distances.

Damn, that was quite the bargaining deal ya got. I know what you mean. I have a Buckmaster on my 30-06 and it's been great. It's an older one, and doesn't have the BDC, but the Deer I got didn't know that.
