Default Nikon M223

I've been doing some research and I have decided to buy a Nikon M-223 4-16 BDC scope. Hope Im making a smart purchase.

Anyone have any experience with the M-223 line if optics? I had a Prostaff 3-9 on a bolt action that worked well.

I have the m223, as well as the m308, and the p22.

I like all three; they've taken some mild abuse with no apparent detrimental affect on the accuracy. They're pretty bright and crisp for a variable power scope. All three maintain focus well in the zoom.

I like the ballistics app, program, and web site ... One iPhone app works for all three, and it even gets the local weather for the environmental info.

I'm liking my M-223 2-8x. I started with the 1-4x, but traded up. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably go with 3-12x, but I enjoy the quality. I got it with the free PEPR that they offered last year.

Squak, Keep us posted on your purchase, I haven't been able to get the 4-16 in either M-223 or M-308 so I have recently put on a MONARCH 4-16 on my LMT 308. Let me tell you, love this rifle and scope combo. My wife (never should have told how good it shoots) plans to use it next week when we are hunting in Ks.
Should be big fun!
If you get one, let us know what you think and post some pics of your rig.

The m223 and m308 are nikon monarchs. So your starting with a decent scope and then adding some real nice user features to it. The nikons are very good scopes for their price range. You dont really get better till you hit the nightforce pricepoints.

Vortex makes good scopes but they price themselves into the high end market and they should be closer to nikon for what they are.

I would take a nikon over any of the leupold offerings any day.

Thank you Jon! Picking a scope is like buying a car...You have to pick the one that is right for you and will meet at the needs you have, or as in most cases, the needs we can live with. I never tell folks you have to get this or that, I try to give them the pertinent information to help make a solid choice. The bottom line is everyone needs to look down the tube before you buy. Just so you know what you are getting. Of course on Nikon's BDC scope line, they have Spot On Ballistic Program to really dial in your rifle, scope and ammo to achieve maximum accuracy. Does it work? Over 1,000,000 users can't be wrong. Heck, I even taught my 77 year old father in law how to put it all together. He went from a (not a lie) box of shells per der to last year going 4 for 4 in Ks. Proof that you can teach an old Army man new tricks. I can't wait to take him back next year when he'll be almost 80!

That looks like a seriously heavy AR!

I made a decision to have my vertical grip on my 16" upper with a red dot. The 20" upper with my Nikon M-223 doesn't have any tactical stuff. I don't see myself using a scope if I am using my AR off-hand protecting the homestead.

Your mileage may vary, though.

It is heavy. It will be going on a 24" RRA Varmint upper when I can afford it. For now, it stays. I didn't pay $475 for it to sit in a box. Lol

Funny you say that because my gunsmith asked me if I uses it to work out.
