New Scope Help Needed
Hey guys, my new scope just came in and I am chomping at the bits to mount it on my gun. I just have one issue. I have a Remington 700 .308, it currently wears a cheap tasco 4X30, I just received a Bushnell Elite 4200
6-24X50, and you guessed it, I need new mounts. obviously something that will get the objective off the barrel, but not too high. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
Warne Mounts. Does your rifle have a picatinny rail on top of it? What size is the objective on your new Bushnell?
|
I do not have a rail, and the objective is 50 mil. Idealy I would like something that gets the scope as close to the gun as possible.

You really have all kinds of options, I think your best bet would be to take the rifle and the scope down to your local gun store and look at some different rings and eyeball whether or not they will fit your needs or not. I just recommended Warne because that is all I have ever used.....

Don't know where you live or how many places you have that you can look, but Squirrely is right. Take the rifle and scope to a retailer and see what fits best. Trying to find base/rings that give you the elevation you want can be a major pain in the butt if you don't have access to look at several.
Some of the base and rings manufacturers can give you specs and measurements on their rings if you don't have a place that you can actually look at them. Good luck and let us know how it works out. |
Thanks, I figured I would have to do that anyway, but I wanted to hear from the board first, just to hear some suggestions.

Please let us know how it works out.

Leupold 1 piece base for a Short action. and Burris Med Signature Rings. That is what I have on mine. The base and med height rings will get you just enough clearance on the scope and keep your face firmly on the stock.
