Default New Colt AR

What is a good scope for my new AR? I have been looking at a Burris XTR-14. Thoughts from anyone?

Welcome!

Congrats your New Rifle!

Before we get into any suggestions, can you tell us a little bit about your shooting experience, your particular model of colt, your intended uses and what ranges you plan to use it at?

Stay safe and Happy Holidaze!

Hello AgentTikki
Shooting exp is mostly with larger caliber rifles and distance shooting along with hand gun exp. The new rifle is a Colt SP6940 with monolithic rail. Interim distances between 100 to 500m is where I will be doing most of my firing. Barrel is a 1:7 16". Mostly fmj with 70-75 grain. Thanks for your reply and hope to here from you soon.

I agree, nice gun. Are you looking for 40mm, 50mm, or the more cool looking 25mm optics? They also have an xtr with a fastfire holo on top around $900

Is this what you have in mind?

Nice pickup!

With your experience, sounds like you are looking for something very specific.

For 100-300 I'd recommend 1-4x optics but from 300-500 a 4x might be enough. I honestly don't have much experience beyond mid range distances so I'll let someone with more experience give you a hand.

but honestly man.....we need some gun porn to start off our days......

PIX plz.

sorry thinking abou the wrong optic.......On a side note, I've been looking at the burris, nice price point and I like the FFP reticle. Nice for 1x cqb, opens up nice for more precision shots at 4x. There's an link I need to dig up for you.....be back in a bit

Hello Pipeman525,
Thanks for the response.
Trying to stay tight and clean with high quality optics and exceptional durability.
The site you provided is the Burris I have been looking at. The clarity is very good.

AgentTikki,
Fantastic info. The site you provided is very useful.
I am tending more and more toward the Burris XTR-14. Even though there may be limitations at the furthest extent of where I want to max out distance wise.
Oh ya, gun porn......
Here ya go..... Like I said just purchased and needs a lot more round time before I make any alteration.
