need input on choosing a scope
I can't decide between Nikon or leupold. I'm putting it on a 22-250. I'm only target shooting but hoping to get into some kind of competion sometime. Has anyone ever used these 2 kinds of scopes please let me know your opion.

I have a nikon prostaff 3x9x40 on an AR. It's super clear and holds zero great so far. At 1/2 the price of a leopuld I'm super happy with it. this rifle/scope did both targets at 50 yards.. 30 rounds each.

If it's between Nikon and Leupold, buy whichever one is on sale!

Both great scopes, but what model are you looking at for more precision? Do get one with either Side Focus or A/O because not knowing what distance you're shooting, you might need it, and it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Reticles might make a difference, due to competitions, you'll probably want a "Fine" reticle to see the target better also. Not for sure, but doesn't Leupold use some German glass in some of their higher end scopes, or is it all Japanese glass? What made you decide on just Leupold and Nikon while ruling out Weaver and Burris who also make fine quality scopes.

Both manufacturers make some fine optics. I am a little partial to Leupold even thought I have some Nikons also. The Scope I like the best of all is the Leupold VX III 3.5X10 30 MM Scope Tube with 50MM Objective Lens. It also has a adjustable Illuminated Reticle. Model Number #54912, If you have never looked through a 30 MM Tube Scope before check on out and compare with the 1" Tube Scopes and you will see what I am talking about.

This would be a great scope for punching paper at distance and vermin also.

You could try the Leupold Vari-X-III 3.5-10. I've had it for many years and it's areal tack driver. But there are many others to choose from.
