I have only had one bad experience...because I don't make the same mistake twice. I know two other's with similar problems. Additionally, one fellow's scope would not stay in adjustment and he wasted over 100 rds. of ammo thinking his barrel was shot-out. He ended up spending more in ammo than he paid for the scope! A BSA from Wally World would be a better purchase!

I actually have A Ncstar that I got with my rifle before I knew any better. I have at least 2500 rounds through it with the scope on it and no problems yet. It is a quick release and clamps on very close every time, I haven't adjusted it since I sighted it in.
Mine is only a cheap 4x so I only sighted it to 100 yds but I get them all very tight on a 8" target from that distance. I really didn't expect it to be great and figured it would be a throwaway but wanted to get something with it so I could shoot it that weekend and had no cash left after buying the rifle.

Here is my thinking on this. If you go into a store and the scopes are in two places.
1. Behind counter locked in a glass case.
2. out on a shelf for all to see feel and touch.
I would not buy a single thing out in the open. I have never seen a HIGH END NcStar locked up with Nikons, Leupolds, Weaver of anything else. They are $30 junk scopes even if you are not very bright and paid $400 for one. Chineese made junk is all they are and all they will ever be.
Like RL said look at a simmons. They offer a good price and a lot of value for a value minded shooter. I know and understand that not eveone can afford to slap a $1500 scope on a $500 hunting rifle. There is no need for that. But I would caution you that you do need to spend money on quality optics.
My 223 sat for a month or two before I found and bought a scope for it.

Shoot the box and post it. Then we will see just how good your junk scope is. All I ever see is people talking about how wonderful these things are but not a single one ever has targets to back it up. You can sit here and tell me all day long that your ncjunk will shoot 1/8" 10000000000000 yard groups all day long but if you ain't got the proof to back it up I dunno wanna hear your whining.

There in lies the problems. You will not back up your talk with proof.
Until then go and cuddle with your NcJunk. I will stick to my Bushnell 4200 and my Nikon Monarch and my weaver KT-15.

Not my style, your welcome to come sit with us in the snow this winter, and watch a nice white tail or mule deer get harvested though, courtesy Ruger & NcSTAR. Bring your long johns and brandy, you'll need them. By the way here in the flat lands we cuddle with our nice looking females, our rifle and scopes, not so much.

I don't know if your old enough to remember a car called the "Yugo" - but I'm sure at least one of the hundreds of thousands that were sold in this country actually lasted a few years...the point is, even a bad dog will eventually find a bone. If those are the odds you want to spend your heard earned money on - go right ahead, it's a free country!
