Irons sights yards or meters?
 
About to go to the range and shoot this SKS my new red dot has not come in yet so I will be using iron sights.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the numbers 1-10 were on a Chinese SKS if 1 was 100 yards or meters ?

Looks like this and looks like stock irons sights.

the --- is just a placeholder to keep the numbers on the right side how it looks on the sights.

On a comblock weapon it is going to be Meters I would assume. As even the US Military uses the metric system for this type of stuff. It is much easier to teach 1 meter 100 meter 1000 meter = 1kilometer. 100 meter squared is a grid square.

We zeroed on a 25 yard range. Pop ups were on a meter measured range though.

The Chinese stuff will undoubtedly be metric though.

Think that is confusing? Older Russian weapons may be calibrated to cubits- or as spoken Russian, Arshins. Which were standardized as 28 English inches. :eek:

I usually go by minute-of-whitetail for hunting, and minute-of-bad-guy for pistols. :rolleyes:

My problem with the SKS setup is figuring out exactly which notch is the 100 setting. IOW, do you want the selector bar under the 100 or centered on it.
