gas block?
 
Looking to get a set of the m bus front and rear pop up sights just a stupid newb question when i take off my other front sight do i need to replace it with some kind of gas block or is it ok with out one and if so what will be the side effects?

Sorry its an ar.

Ummmm....Tristan- maybe I missed something.... but what is the firearm in question? An open gas port is a hazard when firing a weapon- really high pressure jet of very hot gas. And if you have removed operating parts on a semi, it is no longer a semi.

Pretty simple need to replace with a different type of gas block i guess.

yes if you have the triangular front sight like many AR's do you will need to replace it with a gasblock that has the m1913 rail on it. that way you can attache your flip up sight to it.
