Decisions

Hey guys,

Im in the market for a new scope.

I narrowed it down to a few, looking for your input.

Millett LRS-1 6-24x56 (kinda big but...)

Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 SF

Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 SF

Bushnell E4200 6-24x40

I would appreciate any insite you could give me on these particular scopes.
The only one I have played with is the Nikon Monarch and loved it because the new eye box gives lots of relief and glass was great. Also played with E3200 a bit, not a bad scope either.

This scope with be going on my new 300 mag.

TKS in advance,
Jordan

I have the Bushnell elite 6-24x40mm and LOVE IT. It is a rather LONG scope. I also have the 6-24x50mm Monarch SF on my AR....

They are both about the same quality and price. The edge goes to Nikon for glass in my eyes. But the big kicker for the Nikon is that side focus. Much faster and easier to use in the field over an Adjustable Objective like the Bushnell model. The draw back to the nikon is that it has a 50mm obj and requires you to mount it slightly higher than the Bushnell unit. I like my scopes as close as I can get them to the barrel. I have one mounted so that a business card just fits between the scope and the barrel.

Bushnell on 308.

I would go Nikon myself.

I gotta ask why are you putting a varmint hunting scope on a 300 win mag? Doesn't make much sense to me but hey your gun your scope.

Never messed with a millett.

My father puts Millets on all of his guns, and I dig them. I don't think there is fmuch that can beat them, FOR THE MONEY. The cross hairs are extremely fine, and the sight picture is crystal clear. The only complaint I have is possibly how much light they gather, but that maybe due to the fact that I have only shot with ones that have the s un shades on them. Another nice thing about the Millet is you get the sun sahhde, flip up lens covers, and scope rings. The higher end Millets come with rings due to the 35mm tubes. Oh yeah, they are monstrous too, 56mm objective!

Nice AR Tango.

TKS for the info Tango.

I want one of these scopes cuz I hunt alot of large fields in my area, thats it, thats all.

If you have another idea let me know :)

I have a Redfield Revolution on my 30-06 4-12x40mm which is only ok in my IMHO, but now looking to step up a bit. If it dosent work out well on my .300 mag, i will put it on my .204 ruger.:D

Hey im just curious Tango, do you have the BDC retical on your Nikon, if so how do ya like it?

The only one that I have any experiance with is the Bushnell 4200 6-24 with the fine retical and 1/4" dot center.
I love this scope for target it has a 1/8 " click at 100 yrds so you can realy fine tune where it hits.
I hope to get a few Yeots with it this year.
I have it mounted on my Savage .223 BVSS and it has never lost zero yet.
I can cover a 10 shot group with a peny.
The 4200 tactical has the side paralax adjustment.
F.K.

Yes, the Millett is a huge scope! I do sell quite a few of them, but it is one big optic! I carry all the scopes you mentioned at great prices. Here's my website if interested: www.bigrivertactical.com

Jordan No I don't have the BDC on mine. I wish I would have gotten it now. As Ground hogs range from 50 yards out to 500 even 900 yard shots here in VA.

If you are looking at something like a beanfield rifle (Rifle that you use from a big enclosed stand shooting up to 400 or 500 yards across a beanfield) then any of them will work good.

The nikon comes with 3 set of turrets, Low, Tall and tall ones that are fat on top and skinny on the bottom. Mine came with a 4" sunshade and flip up scope caps in the box.

I also have a 6.5-20x42mm Monarch UCC on my remington 223 Love that scope too...... It replaced a Leupold VX-II.....
