I'll tell you what I have on mine-a 2.5x-8x. I have a Leupold and a couple of Weaver in that range. That way you have the option of turning your adjustment range from 2.5x-4x (hunting), to 8x (bench shooting & zeroing).

I am looking at the Leupold M8 4x and Simmons gold medal.

I have one of those on a 10 inch bull, .223 and love it. And I agree with stalkingbear - anything over 4X and you won't be able to see anything without a rest.

My 2¢

I agree, that is why I am leaning towards fixed power.

Perhaps on my 30 Bellm that I can use for deer in IL I may opt for a variable as this caliber is accurate out to 150 yards.

I bet you would get more responses to your many questions if you just went over to the "Introductions" thread and told us a little about yourself!

I have been on the forum for over a year and had done this once but just did it again. Thanks for the reminder.

Burris 3-12x that is what I would go for.

DefaultScope

I don't know if I would need all that power and doubt I could get a clear sight picture at high magnification unless shooting from a rest. I do have some Burris scopes with posi lock and like them.
