Default Cheap Scopes

I'm talking under approximately $230. I am looking at a high magnification scope to put on a 22-250. Don't have a ton of money to spend on a scope. What's good for high mag at this price point?

I just got a Centerpoint 4-16x40mm at Walmart for $70. I am the type of person that would rather buy a mid to high end item to begin with instead of wasting my money, but people I know really like them.

I haven't shot it yet, but the build quality actually seems pretty good. I figure if the scope blows, I'll return it and buy a nice Nikon or something. It is mounted on my AR.

My first impressions are that the optics are clear, plenty of magnification, and build is good. The reticule has Mil-dots and it is also red/green illuminated as well.

I would say since you are considering spending $200 i'd just go for something higher end off the bat, but if you want something that is supposedly pretty good and has mainly positive reviews you may want to give it a try. It can always be returned.

Well we can talk about cheap scopes like BSA or Sight Mark or Barska.

Or we can talk about low cost scopes. Scopes that give you a decent quality for the price you pay.

You say your limit is $230 and we are talking about a 22-250 Varmint rifle. Sir I am here to spend your money. I love the 22-250 and I love blasting them filthy liberal varmints as well.

So lets look at some quality varmint power scopes in the $230 range.

Bushnell Elite 3200 is a great scope for the money here is a 3-10x40mm.
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40 Short Action Compact Riflescope (Matte Rifle Scope) 323104M FREE S&H 323104M. Bushnell Elite 3200 Riflescopes, Bushnell Riflescopes.

Here is a Mueller 4-16x50mm very good scopes for the price as well.

Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32 Riflescope w/ Ballistic Plex Reticle FREE S&H 201344. Burris Timberline Riflescopes, Burris Riflescopes.

Here is another Mueller 4-16x50mm I know a few guys that have gone strictly Mueller scopes on their varmint hunting rigs.
Mueller Optics 4-16 x 50mm Adjusted Objective Tactical Riflescope FREE S&H MT41650IGR. Mueller Optics Tactical Riflescopes, Mueller Optics Riflescopes.

Bushnell Trophy XLT 6-18x50mm Matte Multi-X Riflescope FREE S&H 736186. Bushnell Trophy XLT Riflescopes, Bushnell Riflescopes.

Coming in just slightly over your budget of $230 Is the Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50mm. Vortex compaire to scopes that are easy double the money.
Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 Matte Riflescopes FREE S&H DBK-M-03P, DBK-03-BDC. Vortex Diamondback Riflescopes, Vortex Riflescopes.

Holy crap that is an awesome post. Thanks for the info. I see a lot of good scopes on there for the money I am looking to spend. Specifically I like some of those muellers, and if the Vortex are that good, they would definately be something to look at. To be honest, I have never had a high end gun or glass. I have used Simmons or Scheels brand scopes on average rifles. My favorite gun is a 7mm Rem Mag 700 with that "crappy stock" that everybody is always talking about. Never had an ounce of trouble with the stock or scope. With that said, I would like to get the best scope I can for the money. Thanks for the input. And now I have a couple other good places to look for equipment at. hahaha

Vortex has a LIFE TIME warranty. Doesn't matter if you are owner 1 or owner 5,000,000 if it breaks you send it to them they will repair or replace. Can't beat that with a stick if you ask me.

You are quickly talking me into one of these. That is the way it was with a Simmons I have too. Just send it in and they fix it. The scheels one I have, you just take it in and they give you a new one if you need it. Sometimes warranty means a lot and in this case that would stand true.

Ya, but can he find his car keys? The New Bushnell Trophy scope seem nice. I put one on my sons 6.5x55. A simple 3-9x40mm. How long it will last, I don't know.
