Default Bushnell Elite 4200

Hey guys, I am about to purchase a Bushnell for my remington 700. It's a bushnell elite 4200 6-24X40. I have read alot about this scope and I like what I see. I was just wondering if anyone on here had any experience with this scope.

Why yes sir I do. I have one on my 308 target rifle. It is a very good scope in the $500 to $600 range. You might also take a look at the Nikon Monarch 6-24x50mm SF as well. I think the nikon has a slight edge over the bushnell. The SF is much more handy in the field.

I am not familiar with the Nikon SF, How does it compare with bushnells features on the 4200? Raingaurd lense, brings in the most light etc....

My nikon is just as clear and bright if not a little brighter than my bushnell.

the 4200 Bushnells and the Nikons are the top glass coming out of Japan/ Philippians at this time.

I got the bushnell because the action I have it on is LONG. Many others scopes I was looking at didn't have a mounting area long enough to accept the ring spacing on my action.

If I can I will try to post some pictures through both this evening.

Looking more into the 4200 and from sources that I buy from I can get the 4200 for anywhere from $75-$125 less the Nikon as well as more options for the Bushnell.

What Tango is saying is that the side focus on the Nikon is much more convenient to use than the objective focus on the Bushnell. With the Nikon, you don't have to move your eye or the rifle to adjust the focus; with the Bushnell, you do because the adjustment is at the front of the scope.

Like Tango, I have both (although my Bushnell is the Elite 3200 series) and both are very good, but the convenience of the Nikon side focus is nice.

I love the side focus and will never purchase a scope without it. The nice thing the Nikon also offers of the Bushnell is the BDC reticle that you can go on line with your bullet and load specs and create a custom range card for.

Prices for the Bushnell 4200 have dropped since I purchased mine. I paid $525 for my Bushnell and $525 for my Nikon as well.

I know that you will be happy either way you go. Also check out Vortex and weaver scopes as well. I got a $125 Vortex Crossfire 4-12x40mm for my deer rifle and I was amazed at the brightness and clarity of it. It easily compares to scope that cost 3 times as much. Plus if a vortex ever breaks just send it back to them and they will fix or replace at no charge. That is good for the life of the scope and doesn't matter if you are the first of 30th owner of it.

Vortex 6.5-20x44 Viper 30mm Rifle Scope

Weaver 6-20x40 Grand Slam Rifle Scope

The new model 4200's have side focus.

Both,Bushnell and Nikon are decent scopes. The lense coatings that Nikon uses seem to be a little darker,IMO.
But I would probably go with the Nikon when it comes to having any customer service issues,Bushnell can be a real hassle to deal with if you have any problems with your scope.
