Default Bushnell On AR 15 carry handle

Guy's had an AR built and want to put a scope on it. Im looking at the Bushnell 3x9x40 XLT With the 250 or 600 DOA redical. Im also looking at the Barska carry handle mount, because you can still use the iron sits!! I don't need a high dollar scope just for plinking or poping a yote now and then. Any thoughts?? Thanks Pat C.

Small diameter tubes work better if you dont have a cheek rest. The carry handle makes the objective a little too tall with 30mm tubes.

This should help, note that when the scope is mounted on the handle the centerline of the scope is 1 3/4" higher than a scope mounted to a flat top

The extra height of the scope makes a proper cheekweld (where your cheek rests on the stock) more difficult. Using a smaller dameter scope tube means it can be mounted lower (I had lower rings but it was still a bit high)

When I got that AR I had a spare 1" Bushnell rimfire scope laying aroud. I tried it with low rings on the handle and felt it was slightly high but usable. This is just a plinking gun but in the end I went pure optic (due to poor eyesight) and rarely use the handle/fixed sights. If the scope is supplemental to the iron sights you may find it is acceptable for occasional use.

You could also flat mount it and put on flip up back up sights.
get a quick conect sight mount and off and on no problem with the optic.
