BSA, Nc Star... yes or no

I'm looking for thoughts on the BSA and NcStar optics from some of you seasoned shooters. Are they worth purchasing or should I just stick to to old trusties like Nikon, Leupold, and Bushnell. I will be putting one on my M&P 15, and on on the wifes, Rossi .243

With optics, the old adage of "you get what you pay for" is particularly true. The 2 cheapest brand/model lines I'd consider, and are around 140-150$, are Nikon Prostaff, and Weaver. Scopes have to perform well in 3 different areas. 1st is not fogging up inside NO MATTER WHAT. 2nd is tracking/adjustment dependability. 3rd is optical clarity. Not in that order but you get the idea.

I would look on ebay for an older weaver, nikon, leupold, Bushnell elite or a few others.

I have a BSA and it is ok I had one on a 223 and it would not hold POA at all. I think BSA's and the like are ok for rimfires but not much else. They are no where near as bright as my Weaver let alone my leupold or bushnell elite 4200. I think the lower end Simmons are slightly better scopes for the same price. In the lower end class of scopes I think the leader of the pack right now is Mueller Optics. I know a few guys that are big time predator hunters one is the head of the PPHA. These guys expect things to work, and they are going with mueller scopes.

If you have to, I'd go with BSA before NCStar. Have a few BSA scopes and they have all been decent ones.

My $.02 - Have one of the upper end NCSTARS on my 7mm rem Mag. has the range finder and iluminated crosshairs. So far so good, plus I really like it - much better than some scopes I have 3 times the money in. It might crap out tomorrow - who knows??

Got a 6X24 NC Star on my V-Match. For the money I'm real satisfied. $150.00 plus life time guarantee.

Getting back to QUALITY scopes, the BEST lifetime warranty is the 1 you NEVER have to use!
