i don't have any experiance with the Buckmasters, but i have some with the Prostaff series, and for their price, they are excellent scopes. i would say go to a dealer that is Nikon vendor and campare them side by side. Nikon has an excellent reputation for quality optics. my next Nikon is going to be another Prostaff for my fathers rifle and a Monarch for a rifle i just got recently.

I've got a buddy who has a Nikon Buckmaster on his remington 223. I've shot it many times. The scope is very clear and very accurate. I have not tested it in low light conditions but I would bet it's fine.

I gotta say I'm a Weaver V16 fan. It's a very good medium range scope. Reliable with clear glass. I also like the Burris line of scopes. I'm really trying to stay away from anything made in china.

Nikon glass coatings are to dark, low light not very good, an in early am at sunrise the nikons pick up way to much trash light. U can get way better glass for the same price as the nikons. Burris, Sightron, Vortex ect
