Brandy he asked for a good scope in the $100 to $300 range.

If you want him to have a $2k scope them I am sure he will pm you his address so you can send him one.

You know I have seen guys shooting 1k with a lot less optics than what you are spouting off about.

I know my budget and so does he. We offered him a few good choices in his range. Then you come in here talking crap. So Please look to your left and go out that door.

Of course a $170 scope will not perform like a $2k+ S&B and a $900 Sightron will shoot with a $1800 Nightforce or Leupold.

I will stack my cheap guns with my cheap scopes again you and your cheap guns and expensive scopes any day of the week.....

By your reasoning if I have $1200 for a rifle and scope I should buy a $200 rifle and put a $1000 scope on it. Man I am not sure what you have been smoking but let me know what it is so I can get some because that is some good sh!t right there.

I can kill ground hogs out to 300+ yards with a $500 Nikon. I didn't even sight in my last scope and still was hitting ground hogs at 250 yards.

You can afford $2k + scopes and that is cool. Most of us live in the real world and choose to take care of important things before guns not because we have to but because we need to.

I saw a Sightmark scope in the local gun shop last Saturday. Looked it over & decided I would give it a shot, so to speak. Bought the scope, brought it home & mounted it on my Tikka T3 .223 Varmint that night. Went to my 100 yd range at the farm & sighted it in. Ran 35 test loads through the chrony, re-checked the mount & rings, did a box test & headed on out to 200 yds, then 300 & 385 yds. That's as far as I can go before I run out of room out there. This Sightmark 4-16x44 Tactical scope has target knobs w/1/8" clicks, although the specs say 1/4". Windage & elevation are both 60 moa. I mounted the scope on a EGW 20 moa rail using .990 EGW scope rings. For a scope I thought would be a good one for a .22 LR trainer, I am happy to say that it is good enough for the Tikka to leave it mounted & take it out for a 600 yd walk. Hopefully I will be able to do that sometime this week. The price is under $250.00.

You can probably do it with a lot less scope truth be told. I agree that you don't have to get a home equity loan to have a decent optic on a rifle. I've seen some pretty good shooting with some not so high dollar optics. If it works...then it works.

Apologies guys for the thread bump, still playing catch-up...

Anyone got an opinion on Redfield scopes? Made by Leupold so I'd guess they might be pretty decent; I'm probably quite a long way from purchasing a rifle but can't hurt to check stuff out, right?

Gonna be used at 400m max for service rifle competition. Rifle I'm looking at a Tikka T3 which goes for about 1200 bucks here, so I don't want to spend large amounts on a scope - just something that will be adequate for that distance.

SWFA is running a deal on a Vortex Crossfire 6.5-25x 50AO for $99. Best of all it has a lifetime transferrable warranty so that if anything goes wrong send it back and get it fixed or replaced no questions asked. Vortex has one of the best Customer Service Depts in the industry. All the reviews were really good. I ordered one for my AR and it will be here Monday. Will let you know more as soon as I have a chance to wring it out. Bad thing is I had to wait a while for it as it was on backorder.

Zhuk, I bought a new Redfield Revelolution accu-range scope recently 4-12x40 paid around $220.00 for it. I put it on my Bushmaster AR-15, still needs a little tweaking went out to about 100 yards with it (max distance where we were that day.) Very clear and zoom easily adjusts with off hand( right hand shooter). I'm very happy with it so far. I don't know what that is in your currency. I hope this helps in your decision.

Great, thanks for the real-life info on that I'd heared they were good for the price, nice to have confirmation. Think I can get an accu-plex 3x9x40 for about $250 which is fine by me. Everything costs more here btw. Ever heared of a 1000 bucks for a Glock17? Well now you have lol

That's an awesome price for Leupold. Seriously. A Leupold VXII 3-9 X 40 runs to about 600 bucks here

I have a Redfield Revolution 2-7 32 on my Remington Model Seven and love it. It is made in Oregon in the same factory as Leupold, Redfield's parent company.

88,

I am a diehard Leupold guy although I own other brands that are also good. But you did not go wrong with the Weaver. I have some of their older scopes and never had a problem with even one of them. Give us some pics on your rifle when you get her together and a range report.
