A few years ago my brother bought a Remy 308 SPS we looked at Nikons and Weavers but ultimately decided on a Konus M30 6.5-25X44 mil/mil reticle with 1/8 " adjustments and side parallax adjustments. Note, some sites still have them listed as mil/moa which is no longer the case. He has been using it constantly for 3 years with no problems. I had always been a Nightforce guy but after seeing how the Konus preformed I have since bought 3 (2 6.5-25X44 and 1 4.5-16X44) for 3 of my AR 15's. Ladder tested the scopes and they track perfectly with excellent resolution and minimum chromatic aberration. Both scopes sell for around $300 at Amazon or Optics Planets with free shipping.
The Konus scopes are assembled in China with glass imported from Europe under strict supervision by the Konus (an Italian firm) QA people. China can make decent products when supervised properly. Think Apple, their products that are all made in China and I have never had a single problem with any of my Apple products nor have most Apple owners.
By the way Vortex scopes are made in the Philippines IIRC and are excellent scopes. Were scopes are made doesn't always reflect the quality of the scope. Vortex is an excellent example.
