I ended up getting a Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14 @store $265 from optics planet.
I am really impressed with the duality of the piece, and it has maintained a O thru the 20+ rounds and EXTREMELY rough ride getting to where I can shoot this rifle. Summary is I got a great scope and a laser bore sight for this rifle for $296 delivered to my door. Thank you optics planet

Yea just read up on ghgate.com. Don't order from them, they are cloning Leupolds and other scopes but using the brand name.

Redfield is back in the game (now owned by Leopold). I have a Revenge 4-12x42 on one of my rifles. It is the least expensive scope I own, but I am very happy with the quality. Mine has the "Accu-Ranger Varmint reticle on it and it really makes ranging easy.

Midway is selling these for just a bit over $200.

Hands down best scope for the money in any price range is the Redfield. My brother bought one after me recommending it for his lefty Savage. Honestly, it has clearer optics than Nikon Prostaff or Leupold VX-1. At $199-$219 at most big box stores, you can't beat the price. Trust me, you will not be dissatisfied. I will be getting one for my Dragunov new side mount I just bought. Also, people can say what they want, but my Leapers 3-9x50 makes my J.C. Higgins Model 51 a tack driver, but still, I would get the Redfield if I could do it all over again.

That is great! I was going to suggest a Nikon Buckmasters as Nikon has AMAZING lenses.

I never buy any but "gold ring" Leupolds, used, under $100. I've had guys strip them off a rifle at the shows! :-) Leupold guarantees them,, other than obvious damage, of course, forever, period, no matter who first bought them.

I'm sorry, but Burris scopes are not made in the USA.
Try China and the Philippines.

Still floating under most of your radar...Vortex. They have some within your price range. I got my 6-18x50 Crossfire II with Illuminated dot reticle. If you want to know what the best shooters in the country are using...see what the guys at the TCRB are using. They list in this video everything from barrels, ammo and scopes. i think you will be surprised to see very few of the scopes mentioned in this thread. Vortex has industry best warranty and much more affordable than anything comparable. I will put my Vortex against any scope in its price range. http://youtu.be/B1SJge4xO_s
