Default Best sub 200$ scope for .308

I plan on getting a Ruger American soon and I am going to need a good scope. I plan on using the rifle for a shtf rifle, plinking, deer, and hogs. I only plan on spending 200$ on the scope maybe + or - 20$ I am hoping to be able to take game out to 300+ yards but I cant see myself ever shooting more than 500yds.
What scopes do you guys recommend?
Thanks

Not sure you'll find something that cheap that will stand up to the punishment.
Do you really want to trust your life to inferior gear?
Personally I want the best of the best when it comes to shtf.

Go with a good solid Nikon. You can get the Pro Staff in 2-7x32 for around $160, a 3-9x40 for $150 or move up for more robust to the Buckmaster $250. All these will have the BDC, but you can find them without the BDC for a little less. I picked up a Buckmaster around 6yrs ago Used and paid only $160.

Bushnell also has some very good made Scopes nowadays. The older Elite 3200 in 3-9x40 with "Firefly" Reticle is a great bargain for around $200, but I have seen it for less.

My 30 year old Ruger 77 RS has a Burris FFII 3x9x40 with the Ballistic Reticle. It's a good fit in med Ruger rings and works well. I can't see me trying to go past 300 but a newer rifle and shooter combo might do ok. SWFA and Natchez have them at about 200 bucks.

Take a look at www.natchezss.com and check the Weaver 40/44 3.8-12x44 Aspherical lens scope, around $130 plus maybe $14 shipping. Very good optics in this Philippines made scope. Own one myself and its been a very decent scope for me. Natchez price, last time I checked around, well below any one else.

Also, if a 3-9 power scope is OK, check Natchez for what is left of the Nitrex TR1 scopes they still have left to sell. Price should be under $130. Nitrex is a discontinued brand, but basically its a Weaver Grand Slam scope....Nitrex and Weaver both owned by same company and both made in same Japanese plant with same internals and etc. Weaver handles their warranty. Have a couple of the Nitrex TR2 scopes and they are outstanding.

If you'll step up to $300,this is probably one of the best scopes that you'll find for your money.
I have two of these in 6-24x50 on my 223 varmint rifles, and have a 3-15x50 Super Slam that replaced the Classic Extreme line as Weaver's top of the line scope.
The quality of the lenses is top shelf, the clarity is that of scopes costing $1k+,I know this since I have quite a few higher end scopes to compare them to. Tracking is very good, and Repeatability is also very good. The only negative that I have with them is they have a lot of eye relief, almost too much for me personally. But,most shooters will love this issue.
