cpttango30 i was just wondering why you say to stay away from BSA? I got a bsa 3-9x50 and it has been working subpar for a while now.

NC Star are not to be trusted. I have an old BSA 6-24x42mmAO that has been on a 2 rifles. It sits on a Marlin 917V now. Some of the best low end scopes I have purchased have been used scopes. Low end as far as price. The only simmons I have that has been 100% is a 15 year old 3-9x32mm. I put a Weaver V10 on my 7mm Rem Mag. VG scope. $100.00, your best bet is a used scope that a gunshop has taken off.

Hello, not really sure about what scope will be good for under a 100, I am sure there are some out there, but I wouldnt buy anything Bushnell, Tasco, or Millett (there all part of the same company). They have lousy coustomer service. Bushnell has had my Millett scope rings now for 4 months! I have a Simmons I picked up used for 50 bucks and its great. I bought an off brand scope at a gun show for 100, and its been o.k. Other than that I rely on good old iron sites, they never go bad, with practice you can hit a papper plate out 200+ yards no prob.

Nikon Pro-Staff scopes run around $129. They can be sometimes be found on sale for less. They are an excellent scope for the money and they hold zero forever.

If you frequent other gun forums, quite often you can get a deal on a used scope. Many times they weren't even mounted, or if they were, they made one trip to the range and are now for sale.

Take your time, shop around and ask questions of the folks who know optics. Good luck.

I have a friend with a 10/22 that is a tack driver. He put a bsa on it and sighted it in at 50 yds. and had a ragged hole dead center zero on 6 power. When he went to 9 power his group opened up and went 4" high at the same target. When he adjusted it back to 6 pwr it came back down. Call it what you may but I don't want it.
