I just ordered a Hi Lux 1.5 x 6 x 42 for a 10/22. Not sure what to expect. Wanted something to acquire a target quickly and did not figure I need too much zoom. Any thoughts?

I've enjoyed using this Nikon ProStaff 4x32...

Kinda late since you ordered it. I like the low power variables and if I get another one it will be the Bushnell Banner 1-4x 32 shotgun scope. Right now I have a Bushnell TRS25 red dot on mine.

BSA Sweet 22 great scope, l have one on my 1022 target and it's been dead on from day one, worked the settings back and forth 25 yards to 200 yards and it was always true.

The new Redfield's are a real nice scope for $150.00, or Nikon Buckmaster, but I wouldn't go over a 3-9x40mm. You have to take into account the effective range of the .22 LR, which isn't over 200yrds so high power scopes become "moot" for this caliber. There are several manufacturers of good quality scopes at reasonable prices. If you have a budget I understand, however if your only willing to spend "X" amount then you will only get "X" amount of quality. No more than $50 bucks is gonna land you in BB gun scope land. Doesn't have to be hundreds or thousands but even a GOOD cheap scope is going to cost you some. Best of luck!

bluegrasscotty, have to disagree. A Simmons .22 mag scope will cost under $50.00 and is far from a "BB" gun scope. Images are bright , reticle is clearly defined and will return to zero after " boxing the compass". More than enough for a .22 rimfire. The only gun it would not stand up to was a .45-70, kind of shook it apart to the point where it woukl not hold zero. Returned it to Simmons and they replaced it, no questions asked. Not bad for a scope under $50.00

I've got a kruger optics 1.5-4 sitting on my AR7. Pretty sure its got an illuminated crosshair and quick detach weaver rail on the bottom.

For the $80 price tag I'm very impressed. Clear optics, tactile adjustment knobs and tracks very well.
