aimpoint or elcan?

in a few months i'm going to buy either a aimpoint ml3 or pro or maybe a elcan spectre rd. I just cant find out much about the elcan rd and would like to hear what anyone who owns one or has used one to let me know what you think of this optic. i already know about the aimpoint's and know they are top of the line products. any help would great

If you like the Elcan, check out the IOR Pitbull. 1:4x32 QR-TS PITBULL 35mm Tactical Compact Scope Illuminated CQB Reticule

Same concept, better durability. The Elcan has a lever, the IOR a ring. I've used them both and find the lever easier to move but that is not always a good thing.

I have several Aimpoint Comp M/ML3s and love them, but they fall off after about 300 yards.

My bad. I read "Elcan dr" but you wrote "Elcan rd".

The Elcan red dot is a 3 MOA dot. You can get the Ap with a 2MOA dot. That makes a big difference at 300 yards.

The Ap has about 65,000 hours of battery life. Not sure about the Elcan.

The Ap works from ridiculously cold to ridiculously hot weather. I've used them at just above 0, and up to over 130f with no complaint.

I would buy another Ap, but your needs may differ from mine.

i probably will go with the aimpoint pro and the elcan has a 6 year battery life just like the aimpoint. i just cant find out much about the elcan rd and it looks interesting and used by canada's millitary and us millitary. the reason i was looking at it not everyone has one and has a 3 year warranty (better than eotech)

I don't know about the Elcan red dot being in use by the US Military, but the Aimpoint has been for over 20 years.
