Acog or EoTech with magnifier?
Hey guys, I'm new here, been patrolling around for some time lookin around, but I have a question:
I have a S&W ar-15 and right now I have mounted an EoTech 553Socom, I love it. But I am wanting to hunt deer and was wondering what if i get a deer 200 meters out? I don't have the greatest eye sight in the world. Should I go with the EoTech with a 4X magnifier? Which I've heard has a more limited sight picture. Or go with an ACOG? Which I've heard and read has a better sight picture and more space friendly on my top rail.
I like the aspect of the EoTech in regards to close quarters, how does the CQ work on an ACOG? VS the long distance with a magnifier?
Thanks a lot for the help guys.

I personally think for hunting, you may be better off with a scope. I don't hunt, but that is just my opinion. Granted I had an EoTech and now have an ACOG TA01 on my SHTF AR and love it!
You will get 4x magnification with that setup over the 3x with the Eotech magnifier.
As for close quarters with an ACOG, it would be very limiting and almost useless to try and use the ACOG in a confined space if the situation called for it. You would be better to have it on a quick release mount and remove it and go to iron sights.

What i do know about the acog is it works just fine as a cqb optic as your supposed to keep both eyes open. The magnified view disapears when your moving and your eyes will switch to magnified when movement stops.
An acog is on my must have for my shtf ar15.

Thanks for the input, what'd you think of the FTS mounts for magnifiers? Are they as great as they sound? I wouldn't be against that, it'd give me the ability to have BUIS.
The other half to the story is I'm goin to be a police officer, and as long as department policy allows it this will also be my duty rifle.
It'd be nice to be all inclusive but i understand that could be hard to accomplish

Not mine. It is not the version that allows for both eyes open. I have cross hairs without the fiber optic.

I shot a KRISS Super V SBR with the Eotech and 3x on a FTS mount. It was really nice, but it does have pros and cons. Heavier combo than an ACOG, but allows you to choose magnification or none.
Just picture a magnifier behind the EOtech. It will take up a bit more real estate as well.

Which model ACOG allows both eyes? With the trijicon fibers as well? Is that what you were referring to John? Thanks for the pictures here's how I have mine sitting right now, figure I'll need to move it up a little with a magnifier.
PS, don't laugh at the stock, I'm in the middle of replacing all FDE furniture for Black lol.
