Nikon and Bushnell are going to be the best bang for the buck in that price range I think. Might also check out Mueller Optics as well.

If your intention is hunting, you can probably get a Leupold 2-7 or 3-9 for about $200.

$200 should get you several decent scopes for hunting.

These days, you can get many good scopes for a rifle at the $200 price. I'd start with the Nikkon. I don't own any, but I've looked thru several in that price range and for what you need. They are clear and best of all, usable. Jmho!

I have a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9 and a Swift 4-16. Both are about $200. I like the Swift better, but the price was right on the Nikon as well.

Nikon Prostaff 3x-9x-40mm, and Weaver 2x-10x-38mm are both available for $150-$160 range and both are decent scopes. The optical quality & tracking/adjustments are both good on them. I can recommend either 1.
