1911 red dot

I have a nice 1911 and stock I can split a card with. I was looking to get into 3 gun and decided to put a mini red dot on it. Now I'm having trouble hitting bullseye. I pretty sure it's lined up correctly but I don't know how to or what to slight the dot with. Do I align it with the front dot, the rear sight, or just use the dot plain. Before you ask I only put the red dot on for quicker acquisitions and follow up shots.

I got the best bore sighter made and it's lined up right boy like I said while aiming I don't know what to line up. With irons you just line en up and your good to go but I don't know if I line it up with anything or just shoot with just the dot. I've tried many different things but I don't know what I'm doing wrong

Put the dot on what you want to hit and squeeze

^^ This. It is it's own sight. No outside assistance needed, beyond a functional battery. Unless you are extremely lucky, you will need to sight it in at the distance you plan on shooting. Pay close attention to the instructions, they can be a bit fiddly.

Thankyou, do you know how irritating it is to know that you can nail a bullseye without a shadow of a doubt and then not be able to do it?
