I now cannot make my slide stay out of battery on any of my guns.
I agree. I replaced my stock 17lbs factory spring in my XD40 with a Wolff 22lbs spring. It's 100% flawless and worth the cash.

I called Springfield. They said the spring should be good for 3000-4000 rounds. I'm only up to about 1000-1500 rounds. They're sending me a new spring free. We'll see if that fixes it. If not, I'll get the Wolff spring. I don't shoot any underpowered 45acp, so a stronger recoil spring won't be a problem.

Dammit. I should have called too and got a freebie. Oh well. I carry that on duty in the private sector so I had to do something ASAP. I'm just glad that I found out it had failed during my qualification rather then out in the field.

Well I got the spring, but not with the guide rod. Gonna have to get my gunny to switch out the springs. The new spring is about 2 coils longer than the old one. Guess the first one has worked its way shorter. May explain why it doesn't apply enough force to reclose after a pinch check. I'll try that factory spring for a while, but I guess I have to start counting rounds again. If this factory spring only lasts 1500 rounds like the original, then I'll probably go to the heavier Wolff spring.

If you need an aftermarket spring and guide rod (all steel), you can go here:http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=z54xxx
I have no affiliation with this company, but prices seem really good.
