DefaultXdm .40

I was contemplating on buying a XDM .40 Compact. I have never owned a SA XD. I have always owned Glocks and one Beretta 96 A1.
Is the XDM better or equal to a Glock 27?
I carry my G27 everyday and wanted another compact .40 to keep in my vehicle.
What do you guys think?

Well the XD does have a safety.

That's a step in the right direction.

my carry gun is a xdm compact in 45 acp. i like them better than glocks. they have a better trigger, a better grip angle making them natural pointers unlike the glock, and a grip safety to supplement the trigger safety.

overall i think the xdm's are much higher quality guns.

i would suggest renting one or begging someone to try theirs. if you were in wisconsin you would be welcome to chuck some lead downrange with mine.

If I was up your way I would take you up on your offer.
Maybe I will swing in a few shops to see if they have any.

The XDms are pretty nice, as polymer guns go. I would add that you might want to take a look at the XDm's neglected sister, the XD. If you find one you like, you can save a bit of coin. The XD didn't suddenly suck as soon as the XDm hit the shelves. If you don't need a match barrel and replaceable back straps, you might want to give it some thought.
I own a XD40SC, and it's a pretty good pistol.

I like my XDm more than my Glocks. Is one better? That's all in the eye of the person handling the gun. Both have gone bang every time I pull the trigger, so there's really no complaints.

I own 3 Glocks that I have shot and carried for years. I recently purchased 2 Xds (xd subcompact 9 and an XDM compact 45). I
have taken the Springfields to the range and put quite a few rounds through them in
the last 2 weeks. Guess what: I like the Xd
guns much better than my Glocks! I believe
I am going to sell a few of the Glocks and
buy another XD in 40 caliber.

Nothing but pleased with my XD. I looked at the XDm but decided the upgrades weren't worth the extra cost for me. No problems with shooting and the gun feels great in my hand.

Not going to say that XDm's are better than Glocks. But my XDm is fantastic, while Glocks feel like...
