It's all about grip for me. My carry weapon is a XDm 40. It just works for my hand. I am of the opinion that it is the "grip" or lack there off, that most affects my ability to hit what I am aiming at.

They are both Amazing weapons...Went to the range with father in-law and compared my XD9 subcompact with his Glock 19 Personally I preferred the way my Springfield felt in my hand and also how it handles recoil..(smooth as butter!!)

I got my xd9 for 420$
Glock 19 are 600-700$

My last Glock 19 (Gen 3) I picked up used. Used as in the previous owner kept it in a case or holstered and not carried and used it camping only and could not have put but a magazine or two through it as there is no visible wear on the feed ramp. Picked it up as a little brother for the 17 (they get jealous sometimes...)

This one was for $400 with original gear. I haven't shot the XD but they are touted to be solid firearms for sure.

Where in the world are you that you're paying $700 for a glock?

Even if Glocks were only 700 bucks here, I still wouldn't be inclined to buy one

You and I are on the same page zhuk. I wouldn't pay $50 for a Glock if I couldn't flip it to a fanboy.

Yeah, at almost 1000 bucks for a new Glock, no thanks.

Not when an XD/HS is about $1100-1200

Just worked out why we can't get XDms - because the barrel is only 4.5" and 5" is the minimum mandated length here, due to a pistols innate evilness and concealability lol. Guess that length is kind of an advantage when you're solely target shooting...but I really like the look of the 'M'. Ahh well.

(why I didn't figure this before I can only put down to advanced senility )

Probably the best reply to this thread yet. It is ALL about grip. Who among us has not refered to, or refered someone else to, the dartboards?

Default Quick question?

What I noticed was that the balance point of the XD is forward of that in the G19. That told me more weight forward, less muzzle flip. Of course, the Glock has the barrel lower in the weapon, which probably makes it a wash. The XD is heavier, again giving me the sense that it would be more stable during firing. The XD has a backstrap safety, which the G19 didn't. The trigger safety is almost identical. The XD is a single-action, whereas the Glock is a double-action, and I prefer single action semis.
The goody package is a big sales point, and quite frankly Springfield was smart to do it. Trying to compete with Glock in the Tupperware market called for getting their weapons in the hands of a lot of shooters and then letting the "word-of-mouth" sales department take over. I think it worked very effectively.
There are other differences between the two (Cocked indicator, round chambered indicator, break-down procedures) that may or may not tip the scales in favor of the XD, but they are choices.
I had to dismiss much of the reported failures in the G19 and look harder at reports of problems with the XD 9 due to the sheer numerical advantage Glock has in the community. It's like comparing reports of failures in the Ford F-150 and failures in the Volvo V70. There are just so many more of them on the street that there are naturally going to be more reports.
Safety is the most important thing to me in firearms, and the Springfield is safer.
I am wondering what your logic is on the glock being double action? In order to be double action it has to have a hammer not a striker which even though glock says that it is, really is not.
