I carry an XD45 4". I don't even attempt to conceal it and I'm a "big" dude. Some of the guys on my home board say that they can with an MTAC. I don't do IWB... my pudgies get in the way.

Great pistol though. I love mine and I'm a 1911 guy too.

I carry my XD45 all the time in a Galco Concealable or Blackhawk
carbon fiber, both OWB.

I know the threads a bit old, but just curious what you ended up deciding on. And as a side note, I used to carry an XD45 Compact in a Supertuck with no issues. I'm 6'3", about 200, and I could easily conceal it under a size large shirt, which is what I normally wear. I even carried it at work when I had to tuck my shirt in over it with no issues. I know you said you preferred OWB, but if you really want the pistol, IWB might be your only choice.

I bought a Rock Island 1911A1 instead of the XD. I liked the extra capacity of the XD, but the flatness of the 1911 just conceals better for me.
