Default XD40 Sub-Compact mag capacity

I just got home with my brand new XD40 subcompact & I LOVE IT!! Even though I havent even had a chance to shoot it yet since the range was already closed, so I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow .... Anyway, it came with 2 mags, one extended & one standard. My question is how many rounds is the capacity for the standard mag, 8 or 9?? I was able to squeeze 9 in there but it was super tight, & I dont want to mess something up by forcing it, Thanks

The short mags hold 9+1 (9in mag one in the pipe)

I added these pierce grip extensions+1 to the short mags.

The exact same one, except OD green! Mine has grip tape on it and I highlighted the 'billboard' areas in white. The mags also have the pierce +1 grip extensions.

I'm going to take the tape off and add some slip ons instead, the grip tape scratches my stomach when carrying, lol.

Thanks Gary! Brian, where did you get those Pierce grip +1 extensions? And are the just extensions you put on the standard mags, or is Pierce +1's an altogether different mag??

I ordered them from midwayusa. You install them, easily, on the mags you already have. I think they were around $7 each.

The Pearce extension is a pretty nice addition. I personally think that the 10th round is a bit more of a stuff job than I prefer. YMMV. Even without the "extra" round, it is a worthwhile purchase.

+1

Love my pearce extension. Get a better grip on the gun, but still easily concealed.

While the longer magazine is more comfortable I practice with the stock shorter mag. I carry at 3:30 and the butt of the grip is what prints so less is best for me. That being said, open carry is legal in Ohio so I am not overly concerned about printing.

Pearce makes a +1 grip extension? I'm a little bummed I didn't get the memo until today. I have Pearce extensions that do not add capacity. however, I do have this sweet A$$ Arredondo spring/baseplate on my backup mag. 12 rnds of .40 gold dots and it conceals WAY better in my pocket than the standard 12 rnd mag. It is a bit pricier than Pearce (I think I paid around $17 on midwayusa).
