XD failure
Before the pin shoot last night, one of our regulars brought some newbies with him to get them some range experience. One of them chose the XD .40 Service model rental gun to try out. After 5-6 shots, it didn't go all the way into battery and an inpection showed the locking lug had sheared off the barrel.
Pretty good testament to reliability though as this gun had upwards of 40K rounds through it and tons of abuse as a range beater...

Wow, I would have never thought that would be the failure. I was a little concerned by the thread title but 40k rounds as a range rental gun is pretty impressive for any platform.
When my 45 hits 10k I'll let you know.

40k is good for any handgun to shoot with out breaking. I hope all of my guns can hit that mark and pass it.

Before Obama took office and ammo was cheap and easy to find I was shooting that much in a year. I love shooting compatition, 3 gun shoots, plus firearms training. One day I will, sorry we all will, be able to find and buy ammo once again to shoot till I can not shoot anymore.
