Anybody have experience with it? Is the safety system safer than a Glock? Would it be a good/safe gun for an armed security guard?

Since it has a grip safety in addition to the trigger safety - yes you could say it's "safer" than a Glock. XD's are fine handguns and would serve you well...

It was my first pistol and I love it. I rarely go anywhere without it and feel it is a very safe handgun. I can only compare it to the few Glocks I've shot and they pretty much work on the same idea. The best safety is between your ears!
I think it really comes down to which one is more comfortable in your hands.

Sort of answered it in your other thread. As someone with experience with both, I would whole heartedly recommend the XD over the "other" gun.

The XD's are fine weapons. If I where in the market for a striker fired weapon I would give them a strong look.

Thanks for the info guys. The XD sounds like a fine pistol, I have already ruled out a Glock, too many stories of "Glock Leg" out there. Need a solid, safe pistol for my security details.

The instances of "Glock leg" have almost always been when the gun was being holstered and the operator put his finger on the trigger, or something else got inside the trigger guard (shirt tail, draw-string, etc...).

Unfortunately, when holstering an XD, you will most likely be deactivating the grip safety, and so it really will be no safer than a Glock at that point.

I like XD's quite a bit, but IMO the fear of "Glock leg" is not really a good reason to choose XD's over GLocks.
