Who will be buying an XD at the Suncoast gun show in Lakeland,Fl on 03/13 &03/14
I hope to get a xd40m this weekend
|
Smart people.
Welcome to the FTF, and don't forget to stop by the Introductions section so that people know that you're here! |
If someone wants to slip me a couple bills and a plane ticket I'd be happy to pick up another XD.

Why the .40? Not judging, just asking. I have the XD45, and have been very happy with it.
You would have 3 extra rounds on the XD45 & 4 above the XD40, i bleve. That does count for something. |
1) This is my 1st gun. for my 1st I think the .45, for me, is overkill. I don't want to destroy anyone, just stop them. Although I would love to get a big boy right now I'll stick with the smaller.
2) Style, baby. Beautiful, with the textured grip. It's new, fresh & unique |
Forgot number 3) I want to target shoot & it feels more comfortable in my hand
|
Good reasons there.
Have you shot both to compare the recoil? Many people consider the recoil on the 40 to be very "snappy" while the 45 is more of a "push". A buddy recently opted for the xd9 rather than the xdm9 largely due to a misconception about the grip on the m model. He thought it would be a "squishy" grip & it wasn't "squishy". He opted for the less expensive xd when he felt the only real gain of the m to be added capacity. At the show, you should be able to do a good sid-by-side on the feel & hand fit. If you haven't, you might benefit from a side-by-side recoil test at the range, if you can rent or borrow a couple of pistols to tryout. |
No I haven't compared the two. One of the gun ranges I checked with a few several months back will not let you fire their weapons unless you become a member & to become a member it would cost me, I believe it was around, $150. I think I'd rather just buy one. Like I said it's my first gun, so whatever I buy I really wont know the difference
