Thank you! - My new XD 40
Just wanted to say thank you to all of you here for the excellent information.
Today I picked up my new XD 40 at a local gun show. However, were it not for the information I found here, I don't think it would have gone as well as it did. At one point the gentleman actually said, "Wow honey, you've done your research."
I love it (and the Mossberg 500 I got at the same time). It was a great day. I knew what I wanted, knew what to say and what to expect because of all of you.
Thanks Much!
Kristi

I didn't contribute to your knowledge quest as I don't own and haven't fired an XD series pistol. I do know that XD owners really like them and sing their praises.
I'm delighted that you are so happy with your purchase and that the folks here were so helpful. Enjoy it and please post a range report for us.
BTW, my HD shotgun is a Mossberg 500 with an 18.5 barrel.

It is nice to have input before making an expensive purchase. I didn't have much input beyond reviews from guns and ammo, etc before I got mine and ended up paying about $100 more than I should have.
But, Oh well I love that gun especially now that its breaking in. You will notice a big difference in the comfort of shooting (trigger pull, mag loading, etc) after put 500-600 rounds through it and keeping it well maintained/oiled.
I've read that an additional break in occurs around 2000 rounds, but I haven't reached this point.
Never a failure or misfeed so far and my accuracy improves each time I go out.
Have fun!

Congratulations on the new XD. When you can it would be nice to see a photo and have you post a range report. Here is the link to the range repost thread and you will see how others have posted on their new guns.

Regardless of what JD and BrokeWithACane say, you are now the proud owner of a very effective and reliable handgun, and you get max props for being so diligent in your research. Now go bust some caps and post pics!

Congrats! As a recent addition to the gun-owning ranks, I too recently made the XD my first pistol, after purchasing a Mossberg 500 tactical (which I love!). I think the good news is that it's hard to go wrong when buying an XD or a Mossy 500.
Wait till you fire them! Better hurry, before the dictators running our country decide to strip you of your God-given rights.

Kristi, now before you get XD poly all over your hands, how about some photos?
