I know this might be a dumb question, is there any way to swap the barrel of the xdm 9mm 5.25 to the xdm 9mm 3.8? Or do you have to just buy the gun itself?

You would basically have to replace the entire slide including the barrel and recoil spring.

Because i like the look of it with the 5.25 barrel, but would buying the recoil spring and barrel be cheaper? And would there be any problems forseeable?

I do not know how much a replacement barrel and recoil spring costs, but I'll look into it. If you wanted to go from the 5.25 barrel length/slide length you would have to replace the entire upper/slide of the firearm. I would imagine that it's easier and cheaper to just go ahead and purchase the 3.8 barrel length handgun instead of buying a replacement slide assembly for it.
