XDM offers 19 and 16, XD 45 is 13. Is it feasible to stuff 15 rnds of 45 ACP in a mag, sure but who's going to want to hump it around all day. With 2 backup mags that's almost a full box of 45 ACP on your belt.

Since added capacity is the most attractive feature, in my opinion, in the XDM I just feel that the incremental capacity in the 45 would come at too high a price. It will never be good for CCW, will be heavy, accuracy of match barrel versus standard barrel is marginal for average shooter, trigger pull on field strip is inconvenient at most and how much simpler can it be to disassemble; there is one lever and 4 parts involved.
Well done!

As far as capacity, 13 has always been a lucky number for me, so i'm good with 13 myself.

Hey Bear, why the "no dry firing" mention? I don't do that often on my XD45, but i have done it a few times. What changes on the XDM?

I wonder if the "match" barrel could be retrofitted onto a regular XD? I doubt it would help me much; i don't get enough practice.

You don't have to dry fire it when disassembling it. Supposedly it's a big selling point. I'm sure the match barrel could be retrofitted to an XD.

Thanks. I will have to keep an eye out for the "match" barrel upgrade kit; of course, i'd have to get more practice to make it reasonable.

"springerprecision.com" Source for OEM match grade barrels for XD, trigger kits and other goodies available as well.

I'm not sure if this can be done or not. The XDm has a 4.5" barrel where the XD's come either in 4" or 5". I may have to look into this more....

Several members at XDTalk.com have been in contact with Springfield and were told that there are no plans for an XDm in 45acp.

I dont understand that as they could do the same with the 45 that they did with the 40 and 9.
And make a 15+1 45acp pistol.
There are other polymer pistols in 45 that hold 15+1 and they could do it as well. I would buy one in a heart beat.
Have the XDm in 9mm and a sweet shooting gun that little bugger is.
Very low recoil, easy sight acquisition, holds loads of ammo so no need to lug another mag, hit my target with one shot no matter how far back I stood. ( at the range I was shooting the steel drop plates. Started out at ten yards and kept stepping back until I ran out of room, aprox 25 to 30 yards.) I like to think I'm a fair shot but this pistol makes it easy. I only have a couple other pistols that are this good.

To wrap up.
45XDm would be super nice but don't hold your breath.
Xdm 9mm is a tremendous buy, so don't hesitate.

I have an XD45 that holds 13+1. I figure that, if I can't hit what I'm shooting at with 14 rounds, then an XDm45 with 16 isn't going to help me. Jeezus. I don't understand why so many people are crying out for the "M" version in .45 ACP.

IMO, if you like a .45 round, why wait for the "M?" You have to consider the stopping power of the .45 over the 9mm. The upgrades like a match-grade barrel are insignificant unless you're a competition shooter. If that's the case, one would be shooting a competition-worthy pistol anyway, not an XD. Just my opinion.
