I carry the new Colt Agent but shoot the XD9 SC for IDPA events. I only shoot quality ammo (kind of a freak about that) but can honestly say that I have never had a single problem with the XD. It carries well and is as light as the Colt. I would trust mine without reservation.

What is the date on this article? It says it is available in 4 calibers, one of which is .45 GAP, but I could have sworn they offered it in .45 ACP as well.

BTW, has anybody done a side by side comparison of the XD and the Glock on this forum due to them being similiar? Just curious on the findings now.
I just obtained a 4" XD 40 today picked it over glock becuase I don't like glock got talked in traded my vintage Colt 1911a1 in on a g21 it wasn't even a 1/4 the gun my 1911 was she eat everything the glock was ammo sincitive but to make you glock owners happy I'll get with my Nephew who has a mod.22 40 s&w another nephew has a P99 40 and I know a guy who has a Sig 40 Department issue I'll see if we can hook up and go to see which is the best for this I'll need a small ammo donation of 12,000 rounds we'll put 3,000 rounds through each gun to not only see who makes the best but also which is more depenable? Any takers?

I just bought an XD40 SC on Saturday and got it out to a range at lunchtime yesterday. I am very happy with it. It's a great shooting gun. It's going to be my primary carry piece once my CHL arrives.

I also have an S&W Model 410s in .40 S&W, and I have also been very happy with it. It's just a little bigger and heavier than I think I'm going to want to carry. Especially down her in H-Town where it's shorts/t-shirt weather from April - November (at least).

I compared the XD with the G27 and the XD just felt a lot better in my hand.

You can't go wrong with an XD.

Everyone says get a Glock, get a Glock. That is fine, but remember that there are other great weapons out there BESIDES the Glock.

If you are looking for a good 9mm CCW gun try the Kahr if you want something slim and light weight. If not, I carried a Sig P229 and a P239 for over 13yrs before I made the switch and started carrying the XD45. Both are great guns, more then 100k rds through them both in all that time and only had 1 problem with the 229. Turned out to be a bad magazine spring.

Also had an old S&W 639 that was a great gun, but gave it to my dad because he worked out of town. He has not had any problems with it.

But if you are unsure of what you want to get in a 9mm try and find a shooting range that rents handguns and make a day of trying them out. And if you looking at getting it for your night stand weapon you might want to take you other (if you are married) in case she has to use it.

The one bad thing about that is that she may like it. Which means you are going to have a fight on your hands, I know that is how I LOST my Sig P220. The fun thing is that she shots the P220 better then her issued GLOCK 19. Go figure.

You can't argue with reason. (I would sell the free Glock to feed my XD )
