The above post has the most educated comment of this whole thread.....

On topic, have you had a chance to fire an XD yet? If you can try one out, you should before committing the money to the purchase.

The XD has some good features on it, and it's a reliable firearm made by a reputable company. Personally, I don't care for it much, but that's my own opinion. If the weapon seems like it fits you well, then there's your answer.

Good luck, though. If you don't end up purchasing an XD, hopefully you'll find a perfect 9mm for you.

I'll mention that to him next time I see him. If they don't send him back to the ME for a 4th tour with the reserves before then.

Probably shouldn't give nam6869usmc the pleasure of an argument on this thread.

BTW, has anybody done a side by side comparison of the XD and the Glock on this forum due to them being similiar? Just curious on the findings now.

Missed my point, Glocks have that great Saftey system that a whole lot of people aren't very comfortable with, plus, he's probably not even allowed to carry a Glock on his job(unsafe).... they just want 1, 2, or 3 more Saftey features before they consider it safe. My comment was a Joke, laugh & get over it.. XD's are an excellent weapon.. If I wasn't DAV I would try one, not able to use one at all.

Actually, the Springfield has both a "round loaded" indicator and a "cocked/uncocked" indicator that I like, and has the same trigger safety as the Glock, along with the backstrap safety. Two big selling points for ME were the weight/balance of the XD, and the quick field-stripping capability. 5 seconds and you have the barrel in one hand and the slide in the other, without tools.
That, and all the MTV gangsters have made Glock a household name!

As for your DAV status, I wondered about that looking at your service dates. Thank you for your service.

Me think he should no buy a Glock either.......

I own Glocks and an XD and I like the XD design much better because it has the resetting firing pin safety that will never allow double fires or slam fires.

I think the XD grip safety (and the trigger safety) are marketing ploys because they only work as long as you don't touch the gun..... but, the XD is a decent gun overall.

It'll be a cold day in Hades before I get rid of my XD's and buy a Glock.

I'll take the "Croatian Sensation" over the Crock, any day.
