Safety Question
 

I looked at the catalog for the XD/XDm and I see that they say there is an option for a thumb safety but they only show it for the 45 cal service model.

do they offer it for other calibers and models?
if they don't, any word on when they will?

I'm thinking I will be getting a XDm 40 with 4.5" barrel and wouldn't mind the extra safety for a range only gun.

I know that they don't offer a thumb safety in any of the XDm series guns, but the XDm does have an internal striker block safety in addition to the grip and trigger safeties. There's no external control for the striker block, it's automatically released when the grip safety and trigger safety are pulled.

Lookin for a XD 9 or 40 with thumb safety. Prefer the 9. If it only comes in a 45, then I'll likely steer clear of the XD/XDM lineup.
