Default Range Report -.45 ACP Springfield XDm-45

I just bought this on Friday:

Got to shoot it today. I've got to tell ya I was always of the mind set that I would never own a tupperware gun, but was I wrong! The first thing I noticed shooting it was that is was surprisingly soft shooting, however the grip was small. I have odd bear-paw hands and I had to swap out the backstrap to the largest size at the range.

After the swap, the gun felt like my Colt Combat elite with the arched housing only thicker. I brought an assortment of Hollow Point ammo just in case it didn't like something. I WASTED MY MONEY! It shot Speer GD, Hornady XTP+P, and Corbon JHP+P just like it was FMJ ammo. And as for accuracy, well look at this target from 14 yards:

Above is a CORBON JHP

I had it loaded to 13+1 and I can only see 11, maybe 12 holes. Which means that 2 to 3 rounds went through the same holes. I shot a total of 310 rounds of which 60 were hollow points and the rest were Magtech FMJ and Winchester FMJ (the light ones that look like JSWCs). After all that I was amazed at how soft shooting it was, It makes my Defender seem like a torture device.

Not a jam

I could not be happier with this gun. My only complaint is that my Colt is going to get lonely!

Great report, great shooting and a great gun!

I do not like tupperware guns but the XD is the one that I have shot the most, liked the feel and found the balance exceptional. I have not shot the 45 and will do so as soon as I can.

If the canester were to buy another polymer pistol, it would be the XD.

Never think anytime practicing with different guns or ammo is a waste of money. You now know your new gun runs flawlessly and are becoming more confident in placing your life in it's function.

Nice weapon you have there. What did you pay for it?

I got it for $699, pricey but I didn't want to wait for it.

And it came with a year range time.

Nice shooting!!! That's outstanding shooting @ 14 yards! It sounds like I'm going to have to break down and buy 1 myself. I doubt it'll help me shoot that good though.

How does the new XDm45 compare to the regular XD45 Service? I have the Service and the Compact and was wondering if it is worth the extra money?

I trigger makes all the difference. Not quite as good as a 1911, but the short reset and nearly no overtravel make all the difference.

Also, the interchangable backstraps are great; without the largest one, I would have had to buy a slip-on rubber handgun sleeve from pachmayr or hogue.
