Question about xd mags

My husband just bought the XD subcompact 9mm, and had a question: is it bad for the springs in the mags to keep them loaded for extended periods of time?

Everything I have read says not to worry about spring fatigue just because it is compressed.

A fire extinguisher will only work when pressurized. Keeping all of your magazines empty will be of little benefit. I keep some mags loaded with HD rounds, and I have spares for range use.

I load my mags one short & leave them til range time, all of them.

doesnt hurt a spring a bit being compressed or uncompressed. the act of loading and unloading the mags is what wears the spring out.

think about it like this:

bend a wire and leave it bent and it wont break regardless of how long its bent it will stay in one piece until the end of time if corrosion isnt a factor. keep bending it repeatedly back and forth and eventually it will break.

Personally I keep 2 mags loaded with HD HP rounds and i have a total of 5 magazines. I tend to rotate my magazine occassionally so that way the springs aren't always compressed. To me it is just a piece of mind. Any real science behind it I'm not sure.

Age old debate--
Do what makes you feel best :)

BUT-----ALL my mags are loaded 100% 100% of the time ;)

I have ran into stuck mags that were loaded too long while deployed. 92F mags obviously. I rotated mine on a regular basis after that. These mags were brand new and cleaned properly when put into use, all I can think to blame it on was spring fatigue. Just my 2 cents, not trying to be argumentative.
