New XDm Compact (Poll)
Being a 1911 guy, I was always of the mind set that I would never own a tupperware gun but I bought an XDm 45 and it has been a great carry piece. I have a review of the XDm 45 for those interested here: http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f59/range-report-45-acp-springfield-xdm-45-a-28825/.
When the XDm came out I saw no reason to buy a 45 XD when they were sure to "eventually" make one in 45. So, I waited for them to make a 45 in XDm rather than but one in .40 S&W or 9mm.
Well, now Springer has released the XDm Compact. It looks like I'll need another piece of combat tupperware. The question is can I be patient twice or will I wind up buying a the 9mm version?

I would buy the 9mm. The 9mm is more than effective enough for personal protection. Use good ammo and a good double tap to the chest and I promise you the bad guy will go down...if the two to the chest don't work...well that's what the last one to the head is for. I have handguns in .380, 9mm, .40, .45, and .357...I can tell you I do not want to be on the receiving end of any of them . I've had my XD9 service model since 2004 and have never once had any doubt that it would serve me well in a defense situation. That's just me though...if you are honestly not comfortable with anything other than a .45 then I'd say just wait and buy a gun you'll be happy with.

Its not that I am unhappy with a 9mm, but I have so many 45 ACP Pistols that I have made my life easier by trying to buy most new pistols in 45.

I understand that one. Maybe buy the 9mm now and the .45 later...
