Moving the rear sight on an xd40 sub

Recently purchased an XD for my birthday. Nice gun! Problem is, it shoot low and to the right (shot from bench rest). I took it to the shop where I bought it and the gunsmith tried moving the rear sight using a sight pusher. Darned thing would not move, in fact, he broke the rod on the pusher. I called Springfield and was told that they use a punch and hammer. I tried that with no success. I don't want to beat the crap out of it. Anyone have a similar experience or suggestions. Thanks!

IIRC, the XD series requires it's own sight pusher. If he used just any old sight pusher he had lying around, that will cause problems. My XD40SC shots just a hair low, but windage is good. If it were me, I'd see if could hunt down a smith with the right tool (assuming that was the problem). Failing that, the hammer & punch method. If you can figure out a way to get the sight really cold (shrink it a bit), that may help.
Also, have you tried different ammo brands/bullet weights? It may not make a lot of difference, but it might be worth a try. If nothing else, heavier bullets will typically shoot a bit higher. Windage? Well, you may get lucky.

i would have a couple more people try it out first. ive never run across or heard of a xdm with misaigned sights. its usually the shooter. unless your locking it in a shooting vice and using a remote trigger release you cant rule the shooter out.

Same advice I got. Still working on it. Getting closer.

I have the 4.5" in 9mm and it shoots to the left. W sandbag rest, I get smaller groups but still left. Not looking forward to moving rear sight.
