I was considering both also. The XDs won... Felt good in my hand and great sights.

I'm going the other way, but I feel the same as you about the feel and sights of the XDs. So enjoy shooting while I wait three months for my Shield. The responses from this thread were a lot of help. Shield this year, then maybe the XDs or in the Spring. At least I'm off the fence!

Thanks y'all!

Epilogue - Having been told that my Shield order is going to take 6 months to a year to fill, I was forced to revisit my gun purchasing plans. Picked up the XDs on Sunday and shot a few rounds today. LOVE IT!!! I was very concerned that a .45 this small would produce too much shock and recoil. Not a problem. It even fits the Shield IWB holster almost perfectly.

So the next decision is whether I cancel the Shield order. Not likely.

I was lucky today, wife has been looking for a shield and our LGS had 3 in stock. It was bought before I even touched it. Looking back I wish I had bought two These are hard to find! Good luck to you!

Louisville. I'll call to see of they have any left in the am. If they do we can work something out to your FFL.

Congrats on the new gun! I was also on the fence, had shot both the 9 & 40 Shield and loved them, but it was getting tough to keep passing on the readily available XDs. I broke a couple weeks ago, got the XDs, and couldn't be more pleased. Great little gun, and who doesn't love a 45?

Lol I have the exact same set up... and agreed 100% I love PJ holsters and the XDs...
I haven't had the chance to do more then hold the M&P... but I can attest to my complete satisfaction with my XDs... as well with. My sub comp XD 40 ... it was my carry gun until I got the xds...

Great choice on getting the XD-S. I love mine. I ordered a Milt Sparks VersaMax-2 IWB holster for my 1911 back in January after a ton of folks attested to it being the best IWB out there. It came in about 3 weeks ago and it makes my 4" Kimber CDP disappear and is so comfortable that you can sometimes forget you have it on.

Went gun hunting for an XD-S with my best friend a couple of weeks ago and we found one for him. As soon as we got out to the car he called Milt Sparks to see if they are making the VersaMax-2 for the XD-S yet and they are so he place an order. I ordered a VM-2 for my XD-S a couple of feels ago and they are currently quoting 22-26 weeks before your order ships but it is well worth the wait. Also, they don't charge you a penny until your order ships.
