You have thumb safeties on your XD? Didn't know the XD had those...mine doesn't.

Yep, paid $469.00 for it and it had the optional thumb safety on it, kinda like that feature on it for the fact that you have to physically push it off before it will fire, and if you are going to use it, you already havt the grip safety depressed and when you draw, get in the habit of as you draw, to release the thumb safety,then all you need to do is squeeze the trigger.
I kinda think of the thumb safety as a fail safe device.

The Springfield Armory XD comes with optional ambi thumb safeties? I can't find that anywhere on their website. Grip safety and trigger safety (like Glock) but I sure didn't see any thumb safeties.

I was just curious, having done 20 in the Navy. I grew up on the St. Lawrence River and used to ride the pilot boat as a kid, but never worked on the river.
